SMM wants to continue to offer training in the field of mother and child care, especially in ultrasound. SMM also wants to focus on the facilitation of ultrasound equipment for mother and child care in the rural areas of Northern Tanzania, especially in the regions of Arusha (Karatu) and Kilimanjaro (Moshi) and Himo.

In 2021, SMM wants to offer at least three of the candidates selected by the foundation a scholarship for the 3-month ultrasound training at the KCMC academic hospital in Moshi. SMM also wants to provide these graduate candidates with an extra month of hands-on training.

In 2021, SMM, together with the Driving Nurses Foundation (SDN), wants to start providing mobile antenatal checks supported with ultrasound in the rural areas of Karatu. SDN will be responsible for equipping the mobile services, facilitating transportation and providing care providers. Karatu Lutheran Hospital will provide personnel and transportation. SMM will organize the ultrasound training and, if necessary, provide ultrasound equipment on loan. The project in Moshi is used as an example for the Karatu region. In Katatu we want to offer the same support as in lower-Moshi.

In the course of 2021, SMM will conduct further exploratory research into the needs and requirements of a mamabus project in Himo and the hinterland.

SMM will look for a fundraiser in 2021. The intention is that sponsors will be approached proactively and that new campaigns will be set up to generate income. The packaging campaign set up in 2019 will continue in 2021. The Cycling Club WTC Zijtaart will again be cycling for the Mount Meru Foundation on Mother's Day in 2021.
Our supporters are invited to place online orders via Sponsorkliks for the Mount Meru Foundation.

There will be regular contact with the Driving Nurses Foundation and the Karatu Lutheran Hospital to work out the above plans.

A visit to Tanzania is planned for the autumn of 2021, during which in addition to supervision of the various projects, training will also be provided and ultrasound equipment will be provided on loan if necessary.
